2027: Ikwuano-Umuahia Women Leaders Endorse Tinubu, Atuma, Other APC Candidates

Thousands of women community leaders from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The women made their position known at their summit held in Umuahia on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, where they unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the APC candidates.
In a communique signed by the Coordinator, Hon. Lady Chinyere Ehilegbu, and Secretary, Lady Ify N. Ezunuke, the women resolved to support the re-election of President Tinubu and the election of Hon. Emeka Atuma as Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District.
They also endorsed Engr. Chinedum Orji for Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Dr. Eric Opah as the APC governorship candidate.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the summit, Atuma commended the women for their initiative and said their endorsement followed a careful assessment of candidates across the political parties.
He argued that fairness and equity demanded a balance in the distribution of political offices in Abia, saying it would be unjust to concentrate both the governorship and Abia Central Senatorial seats in Umunneato Ngwa.
Atuma noted that he had been tested in public office, having been elected to the House of Representatives in 2023, and said his achievements remained visible in the constituency.
He also commended President Tinubu for what he described as effective leadership and increased financial support to states, which, he said, had enabled them to pursue development projects.
Atuma promised to provide quality representation, with emphasis on human capital development, if elected to the Senate.
