My Government Will Do More For Abians, Says Eric Opah

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 general election, Chief Eric Opah, has pledged to do more for the people of the state if elected governor.
Opah made the statement on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while speaking with journalists at the Ikwuano-Umuahia Women Summit in Umuahia.
The APC candidate, who described himself as a private-sector player, said his experience would help him address key challenges facing the state.
“I will change a lot of things. The taxation laws will be reviewed, and the issue of disengaged workers will be revisited. I will focus more on rebuilding Abia,” he said.
Opah also promised that his administration would focus on delivering tangible projects rather than relying on publicity.
“We will ensure that what we say is what we have done and not in audio. So, I don’t need social media to say it for me,” he added.
On his chances in the 2027 election against the incumbent governor, Alex Otti, Opah said the outcome would be determined by God and the people of Abia.
“APC is on ground as you can see. APC has the numbers. Abia people will decide their next governor,” he said.
Reacting to claims about the development of the state under the present administration, Opah said the people should determine whether government presence is being felt, noting that they are in the best position to verify such claims.
