As the political temperature of the Umuahia-Ikwuano federal constituency heightens following the move by a stakeholder from Nkwoachara ward in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area, LGA, requesting for information from the NASS relating to constituency funds so far disbursed to Rep Obi Aguocha, the lawmaker representing the Umuahia-Ikwuano federal constituency in the Green Chambers, the residents of Nkwoachara ward have distanced themselves from the said letter, saying that nobody was authorised by the community to act on their behalf in that respect.
The residents and stakeholders of Nkwoachara ward in a communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting convened to review the aforesaid letter by one of its subjects through one Chijioke Ucheogu Esq, didn’t originate from the community.
The communique implored the National Assembly Clerk to refuse and or ignore the request for information in respect to Senator Austin Akobundu and Hon Obi Aguocha’s constituency allocations having been made on behalf of a fictitious coinage.
According to the resolution passed during the meeting, the residents of Nkwoachara ward restated their satisfaction with the performance of Sir Obi Aguocha, the member representing Umuahia-Ikwuano federal constituency at the National Assembly.
The indigenes of Nkwoachara ward in the communique threatened to petition the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee against Chijioke Udeogu Esq, for professional misconduct in writing a letter on behalf of a fictitious coinage unrelenting to any person living or dead.
They warned persons whom they described as self-serving to leave Nkwoachara ward out of any personal vendetta against its elected representatives.
NewsCritic online reports that in a letter dated 7th August, 2024 which was addressed to the Clerk National Assembly, Chijioke Udeogu Esq on behalf of ‘Nkwoachara Ward Development Union’ , Umuawa Alaocha Ohuhu, requested for information on details of monies and projects approved and released by the National Assembly, as constituency allowances, and constituency projects for the benefit of Umuahia-Ikwuano federal constituency.
The letter claimed that as a part in the beneficiary constituency, the Nkwoachara Ward Development Union demands to be availed in details, from the official records about the information relating to monies disbursed through Hon Obi Aguocha as constituency allowance, from June 2023 to August 2024.
Also requested are details of all palliatives and other forms of social welfare packages approved and released by the NASS for Umuahia-Ikwuano federal constituency for the period. The letter warned that failure to adhere strictly to the time allowed by law for granting the application by refusing to give access to public information, the Nkwoachara ward development union shall be left with no option than to proceed against the National Assembly.
