The Immediate Past Abia State Commissioner for Health Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo has been honored with a Community Service Award “Adaukwu Okwoaja” by the Amaokwe Item Welfare Union, Women’s Wing.
Speaking when he accompanied the Commissioner at Late Madam Jane Egbichi Oteh Mini Stadium Central School, Atanko, Amaokwe Item, during the Women’s Annual August Conference, the State Commissioner for Trade, Commence and Investment Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu commended the women for the honor done Dr Ngozi whom he described as a proud Daughter of Amaokwe Item in particular and Abia in general.
Dr Ukaegbu said that Dr Okoronkwo while she was appointed as Commissioner for Health by the Governor Dr Alex Otti played a vital role towards improving the workings of health sector in the State, adding that a committee set up to investigate her activities without being biased exonerated her from alleged mismanagement of funds.
The Commissioner further commended the people of Item for their sustained support to the Labor Party led Administration in the state and assured them of Government support as well as more democracy dividends in the area.
Speaking the Member Representing Bende North State Constituency, Chief Ibekwe Nnamdi, the Chairperson of the occasion, who is also the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Ogechi Oguama and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade, Commence and Investment, Chief Nwaka Inem while Congratulating the women for their efforts towards the growth and development of the area also expressed joy with their Agricultural revolution which is geared towards uplifting the living standards of the women, unemployed Youths and providing social amenities in the area.
Contributing the National President Of Amaokwe Item Welfare Union Women’s Wing, Ezimie Mercy-Kesandu Uko and President General, Amaokwe Item Welfare Union Prince Harrison Eze-Okorie, said that the this year’s Annual Conference which coincided with the grand reception in honour of their beloved daughters cum wives who have assisted the women in their various People’s oriented projects will also feature launching of the 20 Million Naira Cassava Cottage Industry, a landmark initiative aimed at fostering economic empowerment and sustainable development and commended Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo for her selfless service to the people.
Speaking shortly after she was honored with an award as Adaukwu Okwoaja, the immediate Past Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo who dedicated the award to the Almighty God, Gov Alex Otti and her immediate family also thanked the women for the honour done her while promising to continue to identify with them in all their lofty Programs and community projects.
Dr Okoronkwo further used the forum to appreciate the Governor for the opportunity to contribute her quote towards the development of Health Sector.
She also extolled the Governor for his developmental strides in Amaokwe Item in particular and Abia in general and enjoined the Women to sustain their support the present administration in the state.
