The founder of the Team Nwa-Abia Movement and Ohuhu born philanthropist Chief (Dr) Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia, is among the notable individuals both home and abroad, who will be honoured with the Dr Michael Okpara ‘Premiers Award’ in leadership and community development.
According a statement signed by Chief Uzodinma Okpara, Chairman of the Okpara Foundation and Tobs Agbaegbu publisher of Verbatim Media Group, the organizers said those lined up to receive the Premiers Prize include incumbent Governors of Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. Others are: Chris Nwa-Abia, Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe, Austin Akobundu, Hajiya Ireti Kingibe, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon. Benjamin Kalu and Senator Athan Achonu, former Labour Party Governorship candidate in Imo State.
The event will be chaired by Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, while Gov Hope Uzodimma Chairman South East Governor’s Forum will be the guest speaker at the occasion billed to take place on 22nd August, 2024 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
In a letter notifying Chief Chris Nwa-Abia of the award of honour dated 23rd May, 2024 and signed by Tobs Agbaegbu on behalf of the Michael Okpara Leadership Prize, the organizers of the award said that “Chris Nwa-Abia’s life of service is in line with the Michael Okpara template, hence his nomination for the prestigious award.
The letter further stated that” through your foundation and philanthropy you have largely touched lives, brought about development to your community and the nation, while describing him as a “national asset and hero to your people”. His selection and subsequent nomination were announced after a critical review of his activities over time, especially in the areas of community development, empowerment and charity works, it was stressed.
