Sir Obi Aguocha Denies Alleged Diversion Of Federal Rice Palliatives, Threatens Legal Action Against Ogbonnaya

The member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has denied allegations that he diverted and sold two truckloads of federal rice palliatives meant for his constituents.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Aguocha described the allegations, reportedly made by Charles Ogbonna in a viral social media video, as false, malicious and politically motivated.
The lawmaker insisted that all food relief items allocated to his constituency were distributed transparently to beneficiaries across the three local government areas through community-based channels.
Aguocha alleged that the accusations were part of a coordinated campaign involving Ogbonna, social media personality Ikechukwu Kelvin Okorie, popularly known as “Ikukufied,” and unnamed political sponsors. He linked the alleged campaign to political disagreements and the forthcoming 2027 general election.
The lawmaker further alleged that the controversy was intended to damage his reputation and divert public attention from ongoing legal proceedings involving former Abia State Governor T.A. Orji and Chinedum Orji. These claims remain attributable to Aguocha and should not be interpreted as findings of guilt.
Expressing concern that the allegations could provoke public anger and violence, Aguocha urged his constituents to remain calm and avoid being misled by unverified information.
He also announced plans to pursue legal action against those responsible for publishing and circulating the allegations. According to him, his legal team is compiling digital evidence, recorded broadcasts and publication records to support the proposed proceedings.
Aguocha warned that individuals found responsible would be pursued through the appropriate legal channels for alleged defamation, cyberbullying and incitement.
Reaffirming his commitment to constituency development and accountable representation, the lawmaker said the controversy would not distract him from his legislative responsibilities.
He maintained that he would continue working for the people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South ahead of the 2027 elections.
