Prince BB Apugo In Trouble As Sen T.A Orji Moves To Sue Him For Libel

By NewsCritic Reporters

The last is yet to be heard about the ongoing war between Senator T.A Orji and Board of Trustees, BoT, member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince BB Apugo over the latter’s press interview wherein he described the former as a corrupt politician.

Prince Apugo had in widely broadcasted media interview with a popular radio station in Umuahia, accused Senator Orji of corruption among other unsubstantiated allegations he made against the former Abia state governor.

Competent sources close to the Senator T.A Orji family, who spoke to the NewsCritic on the condition of identity protection, said that Senator T.A Orji has briefed his lawyers to proceed against Prince Apugo.

The source said something has to be done about the crude way and manner Prince Apugo attacks Senator Orji at the slightest opportunity, in spite of the fact that Senator Orji has assisted Apugo’s family in so many ways in the past.

This newspaper was informed that Prince Apugo would be docked before the law court to substantiate his allegations or be prepared to pay damages for defaming the character and person of Senator Orji.

NewsCritic got from the grapevine that Senator Orji will forgive him only on one condition, that is if he retracts his statement and tenders an unreserved apology to Senator Orji.

Analysts are of the opinion that dragging Prince Apugo to court will expose him to public opprobrium, given that he is not cut out to making public appearances not to talk of being questioned by lawyers in the dock. One analyst imagined what a spectacle it would be to have Prince Apugo in the dock answering to his allegations.

Following the attack of Senator Orji, a group of Ibeku leaders had blasted Apugo, describing him as a renegade to Ibeku people. The spokesperson of the group was Rt. Hon Chidiebere Nwoke.

In a statement the group noted that the attacks on senator Orji was baseless and senseless, adding that the people should do a comparison of Senator Orji, CON, who rose through the ranks of civil service to become governor and now ranking senator with the “so called but atrocious Apugo, a private person incapable of holding a public office”.
