The management of Ikoro Fm an online news service has said that it is standing by its report on the endorsement of the Action Peoples Party, APP, flag-bearer for Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency, Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia by His Royal Majesty Eze E.C Udoka, the Eme 11 of Ofeme ancient kingdom in spite of the controversies.
NewsCritic online reports that the newspaper had published a report on its news portal of the invitation of Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia to the palace of Eze Udoka, and the subsequent endorsement of his candidature by the traditional ruler in the presence of cabinet members and people of Ofeme, who thronged to the palace in solidarity.
However, no sooner than the report hit the social media space that controversy erupted over the action, with some people describing the report as misleading and inaccurate, claiming that at no time did the royal Father endorsed Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia.
Speaking to NewsCritic online on the controversies, the Editor of Ikoro Fm, Tochukwu Eluwa, said the outfit stands by its report, which he described as factual and professional. He said the media crew covered the said event with videos and reported what transpired at the palace of Eze Udoka, adding that they (Ndi Ofeme) openly endorsed the candidature of Chris Nwa-Abia for Umuahia North State Constituency election come March 11, 2023. “They said he is the candidate they are supporting and we reported exactly that, so I don’t understand all the brouhaha. The denial doesn’t hold water because the report was factual and accurate the news medium stressed.
On November 5th, 2022 Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia was conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Anyanwu Ofeme’ by HRM Eze Udoka along with other chieftaincy and award recipients.
