Team Nwa-Abia Movement, TNM, has expressed its sadness over the reported burning down of Ofeme Central School by yet to be identified persons, in the early hours of Monday 5 February, 2024, describing the burning of the school as an attack on the educational advancement of Ohuhu children.

NewsCritic online reports that the social media was awash with the news and video clip of the school on fire in what appears as a deliberate act, which has put the education of many school children in Ohuhu at risk.

In a press statement issued by the Team Nwa-Abia Movement and signed by its founder Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia, the group regretted that at a time efforts are being made to resuscitate public schools in Ohuhu through individual efforts, enemies of Ohuhu are trying to take the clan backwards by engaging in acts that are inimical to the educational advancement of Ohuhu children.

While calling on political office holders of Ohuhu extraction to rise to the occasion, to ensure that the pupils of the school were not deprived by this incident, the Team Nwa-Abia Movement hinted of its willingness to intervene and or collaborate in order to save the school children’s future if nothing is done quickly.

Recall that Chief Chris Nwa-Abia had intervened at Nkwoachara Primary School when the school was about to be shut down with no students’ enrolment, and dilapidated classrooms by constructing an ultra-modern classroom blocks, and also providing school uniforms and bags for the students which increased the school enrolment.

He also brought to the government notice the lack of teachers in the school, which resulted in the authorities posting more teachers to the school which now has over 50 students in his scholarship.

During the campaigns ahead of the 2023 General Election, Chief Chris Nwa-Abia during his visit to the school and other public schools promised to fix the dilapidated infrastructure if given the opportunity to represent Ndi Ohuhu, like he did to Nkwoachara Primary School.

The Team Nwa-Abia Movement boss has already intervened in the rehabilitation of Ohuhu ring road and is ready to take up the challenge again, to ensure that the Ofeme Central School is brought back to life within the shortest possible time.
