#ENDSARS: Sanwo-Olu Imposes 24hours Curfew On Lagos Effective Today

The Lagos state governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has imposed a 24 hours curfew on all parts of Lagos State from today.

In a terse statement signed by the governor Sanwo-Olu, and addressed to Lagosians, he said “I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society.

“Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our State.

“As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement #ENDSARS, we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state.

“I, therefore, hereby impose a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the State as from 4pm today, 20th October,2020. Nobody, except essential service providers and first responders must be found on the streets.

The 24 hours curfew is in reaction to the burning of Orile-Iganmu Police station this morning by miscreants.

#ENDSARS protests have again taken on a violent dimension after suspected hoodlums allegedly on Tuesday morning set the Orile Iganmu Police Station on fire.

Eyewitnesses account in a WhatsApp message said that the police tried to shoot into the air to disperse protesters but they were overpowered and have been trapped inside the burning police station with hoodlums insisting that the detainees are released from the cell or the police officers and those still trapped in the building will not be allowed to come out.
