A group that operates under the aegis of Yerima Grassroots Trumpeters in the South East has distributed relief materials to the indigent and less privileged members of the society in the South East region, as part of efforts to cushion the economic impact of the COVID-19 lockdown.
This is the first northern politician that has been able to reach out to the people in the Eastern region in terms of provision of palliatives to the vulnerable people in our midst, since the breakout of the Coronavirus disease and the attendant lockdown.
According to Chief Mike Igboanulam, national coordinator and Chief Chukwudi Agwu co-coordinator of the Yerima Grassroots Trumpeters programme, the commencement of the distribution of the relief materials to the downtrodden is in line with the peoples oriented programmes of their grand patron, Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima the former governor of Zamfara State.
Addressing the beneficiaries of the palliatives, the leader of the group Igboanulam, said this was made possible through the magnanimity of the Yerima Grassroots Trumpeters Group to buttress its commitment to the welfare of Nigerians irrespective of ethnic group or religious affiliations.
The leaders of the group extolled the virtues of their grand patron, Senator Yerima, describing him as a nationalist and detribalised Nigerian, who would always go the extra mile to ensure that Nigerians do not go hungry during this period.
Igboanulam and Agwu asked the people to be part of the ongoing grassroots sensitization and mobilisation aimed at setting the agenda for a new Nigeria.
NewsCritic online reports that there was jubilation as the relief items were distributed to the indigent and vulnerable courtesy of the Yerima Grassroots Trumpeters. It was gathered that this is the beginning of the distribution of the palliatives as more is coming from the senator.
The beneficiaries thanked the Yerima Grassroots Trumpeters for remembering them at this period of economic hardship. Some of the items distributed include bags of 50kg Rice, tubers of Yam, cartons of Noodles etc worth several thousands of Naira.
