The Abia State government has charged the citizenry to show and demonstrate their support to the Governor Alex Otti’s led administration in its determination to deliver on its campaign promises by religiously observing their civic responsibilities and obligations.
This is even as it described effective synergy between leadership and followership as one sure way of achieving results in a given system.
These positions were canvassed by the duo of Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry and Hon. Issac Okeigbo Chimereze Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, at a one-day leadership training for the leadership of all Abia State markets in Aba the commercial hub on Wednesday September 20, 2023.
NewsCritic online reports that the leadership training, the brain child of Aba markets leaderships, and which was held at the conference hall of Enitona Hotels had in attendance leaders from all the markets across Abia State.
Hon. Chimereze said that the Gov Otti’s regime is poised to retrieve the lost glory of Abia State, through a massive investment in infrastructural renewal.
According to the Special Adviser on internally generated revenue, it is the honest intentions of the government to create a conducive environment for the thriving of business activities, most especially in Aba, the commercial nerve center of the state.
He noted that solid infrastructural facilities in place will naturally facilitate the ease of doing business, as well engender economic growth and development.
He however stated that without adequate funding, government will be constraint in its set objectives. He therefore called on traders, business owners and other taxable residents of the state to partner and cooperate with the government, through prompt and regular payments of their taxes and rents.
Dr Ukaegbu, while expressing appreciation to the organizers of the training programme, enjoined the leadership of the various markets to always maintain a harmonious working relationship with all relevant stakeholders in the system, adding that it is one sure path to achieving results.
He charged the market leaderships to leverage on the training programme to acquaint themselves with the leadership qualities required for an effective management and administration in our present democratic arrangement.
In his remark, the chairman of the organizing Committee of the training programme, Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo promised the authorities of the unalloyed support of traders across the state in its efforts towards improving the lots of the people.
Chief Udeigbo who is the chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Eziukwu Road (formerly Cemetery) market Aba, noted that the training programme was borne out of the traders genuine commitment to assisting and partnering with the government to ensure that Abia residents are served better.
Chief Udeigbo, who is also the Chairman of All Chairmen of Aba Markets promised that efforts are on going to sensitize the traders on the need to observe their civic responsibilities to the government.
