The Coalition for Abia Unity, CAU, has said that with the political events unfolding in Abia state in the last few weeks, it has been vindicated on its position that the state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, alongside a few members of Ngwa cabal are seriously bent on navigating the state towards ethnic politics and primordial sentiments, laced with unprecedented molestation and intimidation of opposing voices.
According to the coalition, the recent removal from office of the duly and democratically elected executive Chairman of Obingwa local council, Chief Michael Ib Nwoke without recourse to due process is just a dress rehearsal, warning that Abians should expect more of such shenanigans and display of crass impunity in the days ahead.
It described the development as being in line with the grand plot by the cabal to foster and promote divisive politics in the state.
This is even as the Ukwa Ngwa Congress World Wide, has described such insinuations as not only satanic, but totally misleading, mischievous, and a deliberate attempt to create and disseminate rancour and division among the good people of Abia state.
It noted that the fate that befall the erstwhile Chairman of Obingwa is nothing but the triumph of law over illegality. CAU in a press statement issued and signed by its Chairman Chief Uzo Chukwu and made available to News Critic online, said barely a week after it had alerted Abians on June 28, on the plot by the state Governor working in concert with some Ukwa Ngwa elders to muzzle opposition voices in their desperate efforts to impose on the state a surrogate and pliable successor, applying the twin tactics of intimidation and molestation of dissenting voices, the executive Chairman of Obingwa local council Chief Nwoke was removed illegally for no other known reason than his disagreements with the members of the cabal, warning that Abians should expect more of such show of desperation as more Council and other Political Office holders have been earmarked for removal.
“We can confirm with a high level of certainty that more dissenting voices will be illegally removed from their official positions in the days ahead, especially Local Councils officials. The aim is to plant those they will use at the grassroots to manipulate their way come the 2023 general elections.
This is in line with their desperate bid to ensure that their plans of fostering and promoting cluelessness, ineptitude, clannish and primordial politics in the state political equation is realized, “the CAU stated.
The group therefore, urged the good people of Abia state to rise up and stoutly resist the move by the cabal to not only create division among them, but to continue to hold down the state. It further advised Abians to make concerted efforts to obtain their permanent voters’ cards (PVC) and get prepared to liberate themselves.
However, the Ukwa Ngwa Congress world-wide in a swift reaction has described such accusations as the handiwork of fifth columnists and paid agents only out to serve the selfish interests of their pay masters and create fears, division and rancour among unsuspecting Abians.
The Ukwa Ngwa group which spoke through its President-General Elder (Barr) Chinyenye Emelogu, noted that the recent developments in Obingwa has nothing to do with the 2023 general elections and or any fathom ethnic agenda. Rather it described the Obingwa development as a case of the law taking its course.
“It is baffling when people tend to build unnecessary political capital out of nothing all in a bid to satisfy their sponsors. The development at Obingwa is clear by virtue of the provisions of the Abia state Local Councils Law of 2006.
The moment the erstwhile Chairman decided to cross carpet, he has resigned his position. In this case, nobody should be accused of removing any body, “Barr Emelogu stated.
