100 Days: There’s Hope Of A New Abia Under Gov Alex Otti, Says HRM Eze Emekobum

The traditional Ruler of Okpu-Isingwu Autonomous Community Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA, and former Chairman Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty Eze KAN Emekobum has expressed the hope of a new Abia State that will work for all under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.

Eze Emekobum in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia on the heels of the 100 Days in office of the Abia State governor Dr Alex Otti, stressed that the Governor’s 100 Days in office has been impactful in many respects, pointing out that the new Governor is investing in critical sectors of the Abia economy to make the State work for every one of us.

He said that although 100 Days is too short to judge the Governor’s performance, the performance of Gov Otti in office so far has restored hope among the people who are inclined to the reforms being carried out in the system.

The Okpu-Ngwu 1 of Okpu-Isingwu Autonomous Community maintained that Gov Otti has shown exceptional leadership within his first 100 Days in office marking the journey to Abia’s greatness. “I wish to state that Dr Otti is marching his campaign promises with action.  He declared emergency in three key sectors of the State’s economy in his inaugural address on May 29, 2023 that is Environment with emphasis on refuse disposal in Umuahia and Aba, Health and Education sector”.

Eze Emekobum observed that the war against refuse heaps is being fought and won with the evacuation of the various mountains of refuse that hitherto littered the cities of Umuahia and Aba.

Again, he said that Gov Otti has kept to his promise to pay the civil servants’ salaries on or before the 28th of every month, while verified pensioners are also being paid their pensions. “I know that road construction works are ongoing in Aba and most of them at various stages of completion, while the launch of the new security Taskforce ‘Operation Crush’ will help to combat crime in the state, especially kidnapping for a ransom, he remarks.  

The Abia Royal Father commended Gov Otti for his vision and plan for Umuahia the state capital to give it a face-lift through the building of road infrastructure and lighting up Umuahia to help bring about night life in the city which normally shuts down once it is dark.

Eze Emekobum said he is satisfied with the practical steps so far taken by Gov Otti to rebuild Abia State, while calling on the people of Abia to support the administration and not to engage in unnecessary criticisms of the new government.
