Abia governorship candidates of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and National Rescue Movement, NRM, Barr(Mrs) Lancaster-Okoro and Chief Ijomah Ukeh have applauded the proposed Town Hall Summit for candidates in the forthcoming 2023 General Election to be hosted by OMPAN.
Chief Ijomah Ukeh, the governorship who is the candidate of the NRM said he is delighted with the decision of OMPAN to host the media Town Hall Summit, adding that if elected he will elevate the socio-economic fortunes of all Abians.
On her part Barr Lancaster-Okoro of the PRP regretted that Abia state has fallen from its dominant position and promised a reversal if elected.
“I am coming to give women and youths a better chance…a pride of place to women and a future for the youths”, she declared.
The Abia Town Hall Summit, planned by Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN is empowered by Section 22 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which stated that “The press, radio, television and other agencies of the mass media shall at all times be free to uphold the fundamental objectives contained in this Chapter and uphold the responsibility and accountability of the Government to the people,” to facilitate the town hall session.
The programme will involve all governorship and National Assembly candidates from all the parties in Abia seeking offices in the 2023 General Election.
OMPAN chairman, Chief Paddy Anyatonwu had earlier stated that the programme would hold on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 beginning from 10am in three sessions, at Hotel Royal Damgrete, Umuahia. it will be broadcasted live on top radio stations and as well as streamed online reaching millions of Abians world-wide.
