The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Aba South Senatorial zone, Dame Blessing Nwagba, has promised to give the duo of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu the People Democratic Party, PDP, candidate and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, a good run in the general elections come 2023.
The iron lady of Ngwa politics gave the assurance shortly after clinching the APC senatorial ticket at the expense of her only rival, Dr Kassarachi Enyinnaya who withdraw from the race last Sunday May 28th, 2022. Although she had to run unopposed, she polled 279 votes out of 320 accredited delegates.
Nwagba who was a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly and former gubernatorial flagbearer of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, during the 2019 general elections, said she is not in any way intimidated by the political trajectories of her two major political opponents, the duo of Gov Ikpeazu and senate minority leader Enyinnaya Abaribe, adding that she is ever ready to face them head on.
According to Nwagba, she is not just going to face them boldly but equally preparing to stop them as the good people of Abia South Senatorial zone are in total agreement with her avowed struggle for a re-definition of the political narrative of the zone.
She said youth and women empowerment would form the fulcrum of her policy drive if elected to the Red Chamber of the National Assembly in 2023.
Nwagba’s rival Dr Enyinnaya said he decided to withdraw from the race in deference to the plea by the APC hierarchy, noting that as a loyal party man he strongly believes in party supremacy. He also lauded the peaceful manner the primaries were conducted.
