Prof Gregory Ibe Visits Gov Ikpeazu, Notifies Him Of His Interest To Run

The Chancellor and Founder of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, today, 4th March, 2022, visited and consulted with the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu at his Country Home, Umuobiakwa, Obingwa LGA, on his quest to serve as the next governor of Abia State in the forthcoming political dispensation in Nigeria.

The Abia governor gave a warm reception to the chancellor of Gregory University, Professor Ibe and described him as a true son of Abia State, his personal friend and valued ally who has shown unrivalled support to his government. The governor wished him well and encouraged him in his race even as he urged him to continue supporting the party as decisions are unfolding.

The governor in his speech made it clear that every zone of the state is peopled by capable individuals who fulfil the requirements to successfully manage the business of governance in Abia State even as he bemoaned utterances and permutations by detractors who peddle rumours that aspirants from Abia North have been disqualified from the governorship race.

Continuing, Governor Ikpeazu indicated his satisfaction with the calibre of personalities that have indicated their interest to succeed him while also saying that among all aspirants, only one person could be governor at any given period. 

The governor reiterated that power is bestowed by God and it is so designed by God that it cannot be left in the hands of any one man. He included that even as he has his own opinion on the issue of succession, he remained confident that the outcome will be what God sanctions and it will be for the good of Abia state.

The meeting came to a close with the governor inviting his ally, Professor Ibe to visit again while Honourable Boniface Ikwuagwu, a member of Professor Ibe’s entourage thanked  the governor for a warm reception and appreciated his developmental strides in the state while praying for the governor’s continued achievements for the great people of Abia State.
