Isingwu-Ohuhu born business leader and philanthropist, Chief Moritz Abazie, today in a rare display of generosity donated a 50kva power generator valued at N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) to the Abia state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The formal handover of the power generator took place today Friday 4 March, 2022 at the PDP state secretariat located at Finbarr’s road Umuahia, with the Chairman Rt Hon Allwell Asiforo Okere receiving the item on behalf of the party.
While handing over the generator to the chairman at a mini ceremony held at the party’s office, the donor Chief Moritz Abazie said he is donating the 50kva generator to the party on behalf of the people of Isingwu and Ohuhu in general, to ensure there is constant power supply and that the party moves forward in Abia State.
Chief Moritz Abazie, who holds the chieftaincy title of Onwa Isingwu stressed that his interest is on good governance, which he said can only be possible through political party system. He added that if the political party is not well managed it would be impossible to produce good leadership.
“So, if we can’t get it right from the party, then there’s no way we can get good governance, he submits. Chief Abazie explained that he is trying to do his best to contribute to the good of Abia State because he wants a state that is the best among its contemporaries in the country.
According to Chief Moritz Abazie, “as we are going into the election year, there is need to bring on board tested and trusted people with vision and purpose to make Abia great.
He said “let us remove primitive sentiments and bring people who are willing to serve because government is everything. Ala Igbo is suffering today due to economic crisis and if there’s good governance we will get a better society, and that’s what I seek for not political position”, he disclosed.
Earlier, the Chairman of the PDP in Abia State, Rt Hon Allwell Asiforo Okere, welcomed Chief Abazie and his entourage, including the Isingwu people to his office.
The PDP state chairman took time to eulogise his guest and friend, whom he described as a pleasant and amiable personality, who rarely blows his trumpet.
Rt Hon Okere observed that for the fact that the donor came in company of his Isingwu people showed that he is at home with his brothers, while commending Chief Abazie for the rare support he has shown to the PDP in the state.
Abia State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Aham Uko, who witnessed the handover of the generator thanked the party chairman for the warm reception given to the donor and his entourage, adding that Chief Moritz is an unassuming young man who crave for anything right.
Dr Aham Uko maintained that it’s people like Chief Moritz Abazie that are needed in public office, people who are selfless and seek for the good of the society.
The Abia state Commissioner for Finance pointed out that what the donor has done is exemplary, and called on other well-meaning Abians, who believe in PDP to emulate him.
Also speaking, the leader of PDP in Isingwu ward, Chief Ebesike Okengwu, informed the party’s leadership that Isingwu people have contributed financial and otherwise to the success of PDP in the state even though they have not received much from the party.
He added that Isingwu would not be discouraged but will continue to support and be loyal to PDP in Abia state. He observed that the way the party chairman eulogised Chief Abazie is exactly the way the people of Isingwu think about him, and prayed God to protect the donor.
