Acho Ojukwu is a household name in Ohuhu nay Umuahia on account of being a grassroots politician and prominent hotelier who resides at Urban Ward 3 of Umuahia Central State Constituency. He is a political leader and mobilizer of long standing repute and has been instrumental to the successes of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the ward.
Acho Ojukwu was the state coordinator of Ochendo Equity Movement, which championed the power shift to Abia South Senatorial District of Ukwa-Ngwa in line with the Abia Charter of Equity and justice that Abia South is enjoying today.
Chief Acho Ojukwu is the founder and Coordinator ‘Ikuku Angels’ initiative, the only and foremost women political group and one of the strongest supporters of Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, long before his emergence as the Speaker Abia State House of Assembly.
He has the enviable record of the man who delivers the highest number of votes in Urban Ward 3 of Umuahia Central Constituency, a feat that has placed him in vantage position as a political leader in Urban Ward and earned him accolades from several quarters.
This great son of Ohuhu land has remained a strong defender of his Ohuhu brothers in Umuahia urban, always available for them in any circumstances. He is actively involved in the leadership of Ohuhu, as he is currently the Vice President of Ohuhu Solidarity Forum, a formidable pressure group in Ohuhu. Acho Ojukwu is also the Vice President of Ohuhu Welfare Union, OWU, Umuahia Central branch. Politically, Chief Acho Ojukwu has shown that he is a grassroots man, who understands the game of politics having cut his teeth early enough in this area. At the economic front, he is not found wanting as he remains one of the proud sons of Ohuhu who are economically viable and focused. Indeed, he has proved his mettle politically, economically and socially to the admiration of friends and well-wishers who want him to throw his hat into the ring for the Umuahia Central Constituency Race come 2023.
Chief Acho Ojukwu is from Umuochi Nkwoegwu, Umuahia North (Ohuhu) Constituency but has lived his life at Urban Ward 3 Umuahia Central, where he votes and impacts positively in the Urban Ward 3 politics. He is a PDP stakeholder both in Umuahia Central and Ohuhu where he has remained a loyal party man.
Acho Ojukwu runs his business in Ibeku East state constituency as the Managing Director of Glajosh Hotels Ltd, Ahiaeke, one of the top rate hospitality industry in Umuahia, Abia State. (www.glajoshhotels.com) He is also the MD GLAJOLA Resources Ltd, a real estate development firm.
In 2018, Chief Acho Ojukwu was executive member of Ochendo Campaign Organization for senate, and has been actively involved in mobilising and control of non-indigenes, namely Hausa community, Fulani community, Yoruba, Igala, Enugu etc. He is a marketable candidate with good profile and can deliver if given the opportunity.
Again, he has proved himself a good friend of the youths having singlehandedly sponsored many youth programmes in Umuahia Central State Constituency, including entrepreneurship & skills acquisition for Abia youths in Umuahia North.
