It was a day of jubilation to remember for the widows in Ohuhu land when a renowned businessman and philanthropist, Hon (Chief) Uchenna Patrick, Pat-Urchman, celebrated and fetes the widows with bags of rice and other household items for their New Year celebration.
The widows day programme which took place on 6th January 2022, at his residence in Oriendu, Umuahia North Local Government Area, under the auspices of Pat-Urchman Foundation witnessed the distribution of rice and other household items to over one thousand widows drawn from the various autonomous communities in Ohuhu.
In his remarks at the event, Chief Uchenna Patrick, Pat-Urchman, said publicly that the empowerment programmes he is sponsoring under the Pat-Urchman Foundation, has no political undertune because he is not interested in running for any elective political position come 2023. According to Pat-Urchman, the art or giving for him is a spiritual assignment he copied from his mother and spiritual father, the late Prophet T.B Joshua who tutored him on the importance of arms giving, especially to the poor and widow, adding that he started this programme over 15-years ago with the youths and widows of his community. The founder of the Pat-Urchman Foundation, Chief Patrick Uchenna also pleaded with well-meaning Ohuhu sons and daughters to remember the poor and needy in their midst always, while condemning what he described as politically motivated empowerment by politicians seeking for elective offices. He enjoined the widows to pray that the next programme would witness the distribution of trailer loads of Rice to the widows in Ohuhu and Umuahia North in general.
In his New Year message Chief Uchenna Patrick, Pat-Urchman, expressed his warmest greetings to all Ohuhu sons and daughters in the new year, and to all the aspirants seeking for elective positions in the state, he urged them to play by the rules.
He also called on the Ohuhu Traditional Rulers Council led by HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu and the President General Ohuhu worldwide, Supreme Chief Obi Aguocha to ensure that the contest for Umuahia North House of Assembly seat remains peaceful. He advised them to invite all the aspirants to sign to a peace pact in a bid to foster unity among them. Hon Patrick Uchenna also appealed to Ndi Eze Ohuhu to remain neutral politically as well as ensure that all the aspirants are given a level playing ground.
“So I encourage Ohuhu, Umuahia, and Abia State to vote in the right candidates irrespective of political parties to guarantee development”, Pat-Urchman stressed.
Again, Chief Uchenna Patrick pleaded with Ndi Eze Ohuhu to ensure that only credible people, who have done something significant and worthy in Ohuhu Land are conferred with Chieftaincy titles. According to him, chieftaincy honour is meant to appreciate people who have contributed in no small measure to community development and not to be given to individual because of riches.
In attendance at the programme were traditional Rulers from Ohuhu, including HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, Eze Philip Ajomiwe, Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna Eze Innocent Nwaigwe and Eze Paul Uzoegbu etc. They supported the widows empowerment programme with donations which they said is to encourage Pat-Urchman in what he is doing for the widows and youths.
Among the people who graced the occasion were some of the aspirants for Ohuhu House of Assembly contest, H/Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia, Hon Obed Asiegbu, H/Chief Raymond Ofoegbu and Ecomog. They also supported Chief Patrick Uchenna with various donations, however, Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia made extra cash donation of N350,000 and 35 bags of Rice which he delivered within 24 hours to the widows.
In their brief speeches, HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu called on the people of Ohuhu to emulate and support what Pat-Urchman is doing in terms of empowerment and humanitarian works, while Eze Innocent Nwaigwe asked Pat-Urchman to start speaking for Ohuhu and not Umuhu alone. On his part Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna spoke on the need for Ndi Eze to also give out to the vulnerable and not only to receive because there’s blessing in doing so.
The climax of the programme was the presentation of certificate of honour to the Founder of Pat-Urchman Foundation, Chief Patrick Uchenna, as “Dike Chiyanaegborogu 1” of Ohuhu in appreciation to his numerous philanthropic and community development works.
