The Nigeria Army has dismissed Corporal Ajayi Joseph who allegedly murdered Motorcyclist Chimaobi Nwogu at Umuokeke Ngwa in Obingwa LGA and handed him over to the police for prosecution.
Receiving the suspect who was demoted by the Army before his dismissal for unprofessional conduct, State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ene Okon, thanked the army for making the task of prosecution of the suspect easy and assured that the suspect will soon be tried.
It will be recalled that following the uproar over the murder of Chimaobi by the soldier who was stationed at Ohanze military checkpoint protests erupted at Ogbor Hill Area of Aba.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led a high powered delegation, including the State Commissioner Of Police, to visit the family of Nwogu and assured that justice will be done. He also promised to ensure that the children of the deceased are educated to the highest level. He was killed on August 7 2019.
