The African Democratic Congress, ADC, South East Zone Disciplinary Committee on the leadership crisis in the party in Abia State between Don Norman Obinna, and Mazi Kalu. O. Kalu, has submitted its report which indicted the former of gross misconduct, abuse of office and misappropriation of party property.
Don Norman was also found guilty of selling party vehicle entrusted in his custody as well as deliberately frustrating membership registration. He was equally accused of violating several provisions of the ADC constitution, and making inflammatory statements through radio and press releases against the party leaders in Abia.
These were contained in the report dated 25th September, 2025 and signed by Dr. Maurice Edeh Nnaemezie chairman, Barr Chioma Anyanwu secretary and Hon Chilos Godsent as member of the committee.
The committee was constituted by the south east zonal chairman of ADC Sir Bon Unachukwu to look into the leadership crisis in the party in Abia. The committee said it took necessary steps in carry out its mandate by inviting the two parties concerned to a meeting, adding that Don Norman and Kanu O Kanu all honoured the invitation of the committee.
In its conclusion the committee recommended that Don Norman be barred from holding any office within the party or representing ADC in any official capacity, pending the ratification by the National Working Committee. The committee also recommended that immediate steps should be taken to recover the party vehicle or its financial equivalent.
However, when contacted by Newscritic online, Don Norman denied knowledge of the committee or its reports, arguing that the body that established the committee are not known in the party’s law, and has no such powers. He said he was not interested in whatever they were doing because they lack the legal authority to convene to invite him, saying he didn’t appear before the committee.
The embattled ADC chairman says he has been busy with tour and mobilization of members across the 17 local government areas of the State, and has no time for such distractions.
