Okwulehie Reaffirms Loyalty To Otti, Backs Re-election Bid With Grassroots Welfare Outreach

Hon. Chief Onyedi Okwulehie has reaffirmed his unwavering support for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, declaring total alignment with the governor’s political direction ahead of the next election cycle.

Speaking on Tuesday at Umuda Okpuala during the annual Christmas distribution of palliatives to members of his political structure, Odinma Ohuhu, Okwulehie emphatically stated: “We are in Alex Otti’s political party. Whatever direction he chooses for us, that is the direction we will follow.”

According to him, the political path of his structure is firmly tied to Governor Otti’s leadership and vision, stressing that loyalty and consistency remain the hallmark of their engagement in Abia politics.

Beyond politics, Okwulehie noted that the welfare initiative has become a longstanding tradition of the Sam Okwulehie family, aimed at supporting families across the larger Ohuhu community during the Christmas season. He emphasized that the programme transcends partisan considerations and reflects a genuine commitment to community well-being.

He charged leaders of the Odinma Ohuhu structure to ensure that the palliatives and accompanying cash gifts were equitably distributed so that no household was left out.

In his remarks, the Acting Director-General of Odinma Ohuhu, Chief Jones Nwabueze, described the exercise as an annual ritual through which their principal gives back to Ohuhu villages, including members of his political family.

Chief Nwabueze commended Okwulehie for his consistency in grassroots empowerment, noting that despite not holding any political office, he has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of the people.

He urged members of the political structure to remain united, focused, and committed to expanding the reach of Odinma Ohuhu across the area.

Beneficiaries—men and women from across the community—expressed gratitude to Hon. Okwulehie for his generosity and compassion, offering prayers for divine upliftment and continued success.

Items distributed during the event included cartons of noodles and spaghetti, tomato paste, assorted drinks, 25kg and 10kg bags of rice, as well as cash gifts.
