The attention of the Abia State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has been drawn to recent claims suggesting that Ohuhu is not benefitting from the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State. This statement aims to set the records straight with verifiable facts.
Contrary to the claims of neglect, Governor Otti’s administration has initiated and supported multiple development projects and appointments in Ohuhu land, reflecting his unwavering commitment to inclusive governance and equitable resource distribution across all communities in the state.
Community Development and Infrastructure
Over 20 community projects in Ohuhu are currently being implemented through the Abia State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA). Beneficiary communities include Afugiri, Ofeme, Umudiawa, Umuagu, Isingwu, Okaiuga Nkwoegwu, Umuire, and Umuawa, among others.
These projects cover essential sectors such as education, water supply, and community facilities. Notable examples include the construction of additional classrooms at Umuawa Alaocha Comprehensive Secondary School, the renovation of Ohuhu Community Secondary School, and a borehole project in Akpahia Obiohuru community.
In the health sector, several centres have been renovated and equipped, including the newly built Umuawa Alaocha Health Centre, which comes complete with staff quarters, a borehole, and perimeter fencing.
Key road projects such as the Umuawa Alaocha–Umuoriehi bypass and the Ohuhu Ring Road have also been earmarked for construction to enhance connectivity and local commerce. Solar-powered streetlights have been installed in several locations, improving safety and visibility.
Human Capital and Political Inclusion
Governor Otti has appointed qualified Ohuhu indigenes into strategic positions, including Senior Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries, and Directors, demonstrating that Ohuhu remains an integral part of the New Abia agenda.
The Governor’s administration has also embarked on ambitious efforts to improve public power supply statewide—initiatives that will directly benefit Ohuhu communities as implementation progresses.
Commitment to Continued Growth
The Otti administration’s record within just over two years speaks volumes of its inclusive vision and performance. While more remains to be done, it is clear that Ohuhu is actively benefitting from the state’s transformation initiatives.
As we continue to engage constructively, the CSDA calls on stakeholders to support ongoing development efforts and to advocate for additional needs such as a comprehensive water project for communities still facing potable water challenges.
