A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya (Evoluogu-Ibeku), has said that Governor Alex Otti’s performance is not outstanding compared to the resources available to the State now.
The former commissioner for Trade and Investment maintained that Gov Otti has executed any new project, but only rehabilitating existing ones despite the huge allocations that accrues to the State now.
Speaking as a guest on ‘The Agenda’, a national program on Don 103.7 FM Umuahia, Ogbonnaya said that despite the removal of fuel subsidy which has increased the State’s monthly allocations to about ₦30 billion, the level of projects on ground is not commensurate with the resources received, he argues.
He noted that apart from the Omenko Bridge, there are no major new projects initiated by the Otti administration beyond rehabilitation works.
Ogbonnaya, however, acknowledged that the governor had recorded progress in certain sectors but stressed that more needed to be done to justify the available funds.
On the ongoing school rehabilitation program by the State government, Chief Ogbonnaya expressed surprise that Ugba Community School, in his hometown, was listed as one of the schools captured, when nothing was done there.
The former deputy chief of staff also disclosed that he has not retired from politics and is currently a member of the APC, a party he described as “united and formidable” in Abia State.
