A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Chief Moritz Abazie (Onwa Isingwu) has declared that the PDP is going to take over the reigns of government come 2027 because before then it would have been clear to Abians that the present administration is not a good option.
Chief Moritz Abazie who is one of the financiers of the PDP in Abia State, also said that God has helped the party to get rid of those that caused its defeat in 2023 General Election, who are the ones leaving the party now on their own.
He spoke at Ohuhu PDP stakeholders’ forum meeting held Saturday 25th May, 2024 at Umuda Isingwu. Chief Abazie said that they want to reorganise the PDP to be able to forge ahead and perform much better than it had done in the past.
According to Abazie it’s normal that after an election the party usually review itself, and sometimes expel those who worked against the party’s interest. “God so kind that these people who made the party not to win election are leaving on their own. PDP is the strongest party in Nigeria, it has been there and will continue to be there”, he submits.
The PDP chieftain holds that the forthcoming party congress would be used to correct some of the mistakes the party made in the past by ensuring that only qualified and good leaders are put in leadership positions within the PDP, so that the party can reinvent itself to stand up for good governance.
Said he “we know what happened to us in the past, so, we’ve learnt our lessons and we will use it to better our future. This time we will be careful to select people who are serious and committed to represent us in ward, state and national. Once due process is not followed that will portend danger for the party.
“Don’t bother about those looking at other parties, there is no party like PDP so stand strong where you are, we assure you we won’t mislead you. The leadership you will see now will be different. We’ll contest election and in the next election we will win, we will take over. In the state house of assembly, the PDP is still in the majority but they are using illegality and impunity to run the state, Abazie states.
The PDP Treasurer in the state, Prince Ben Okezie thanked Abazie for his efforts in uniting the party, and for his contributions towards the progress of the party in the state. He said when the time comes, they will reveal what is happening in the state presently that would shake everywhere, adding that PDP is repositioning ahead of 2027.
We want to reorganise PDP to be able to move forward…and perform better than before. We observe some people are leaving the party it is normal after an election party harmonises self, sometimes party expels those who work spoiled or worked against the party so we can get the right people, and thank God those who caused the party not to win election are leaving the party on their own. PDP is the strongest party in Nigeria, PDP has been there PDP will continue to be there. In every pparty there are good and bad people but we pray that the good ones will be bigger and at the leadership so things will move fine and for them to select qualified candidates to represent the party during election so that if we win have good governance.
Things happened in the best and I want us to advise ourselves, so those that misled us we will leave them and forge ahead. What we want is that across the wards we should be holding meetings monthly so that the wards will know that PDP is alive, we are about to do congress to produce the new leadership.
The meeting was well attended by prominent party stakeholders in Ohuhu including Hon Ugochukwu Ezeocha, the party’s candidate for Umuahia North State constituency election in the last election and Chief Hope Uwaga a former ASOPADEC Commissioner.
