Kano Gov’ship Battle: NNPP, APC Recruit Spiritualists To Pray For Victory At Supreme Court

Suleiman Anyalewechi, Aba

Ahead of the much awaited, but decisive verdict of the country’s apex court on the legal brick bat between the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Gov Abba Yusuf and Dr Yusuf Gawuna of the All  Progressives Congress, APC, over who finally occupies the kano State seat of power, parties have taken their case to God.

This is even as a chieftain of the APC in the state Hon Seyi Olorunsola, has warned that nothing should be done by any external influences and or forces to compromise the sanctity of the nation’s judicial system.

Newscritic.com.ng reports that as the supreme court finally sets the date for the hearing of the appeal filed by Gov Yusuf challenging the nullification of his electoral victory, at the March 18 gubernatorial polls, tension appears to have gripped all parties concerned, forcing them to seek divine intervention.

Hon Olorunshola who is also a prominent Yoruba leader in Kano spoke at a prayer conference held on Tuesday December 19, 2023 by the non-indigenous Christian Community to garner support and seek God’s intervention in Dr Gawuna’s efforts in reclaiming his mandate.

He urged the participants to persevere in their prayers until victory is achieved.

In a press statement he issued on Tuesday December 19, 2023 and made available to newscritic.com.ng Hon Olorunsola apparently, referring to some alleged moves by some political forces to enlist the support of President Bola Tinubu in swaying the Supreme Court ruling in favour of Gov Yusuf, implored that sentiments and emotions should not be allowed to over shadow the quest for justice and preservation of the rule of law.

Impeccable sources have also revealed that since penultimate week, the NNPP hierarchy quite aware of the importance of the eventual outcome of the ongoing legal battle on the political survival of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, as well as its progenitors have recruited some highly influential Muslim Ulamas in the ecclesiastical battle.

Newscritic.com.ng authoritatively gathered on Wednesday December 20th that come Friday the ongoing supreme court case will form the major part of the prayer points of NNPP’s Muslim faithful across major Mosques in the commercial center of the North.

Further rationalizing the purposes of the resort to divine intervention in a purely political matter, Hon Olorunsola said there is need to reflect not only on the intensity of the political situation in kano, but also the significance of faith and unity in times of uncertainty.
