President of Ohuhu Welfare Union, OWU, Umuahia branch Eze (Dr) Felix Nweke has warned that any woman or person parading herself as the President of OWU Women’s Wing Umuahia, is doing so at her own risk because the women’s wing has not been inaugurated by the president.

Eze (Dr) Felix Nweke spoke to NewsCritic online against the backdrop of reports insinuating that a lecturer in one of the universities in Abia state has been elected as the President of the Ohuhu Welfare Union (Women’s Wing), Umuahia branch, adding that there’s no such thing to his knowledge as the president.

He said that as the duly inaugurated President of the Urban branch, he can clarify that the women’s branch has not been inaugurated and wondered how someone could start parading herself as the president without the knowledge of the president, and or any other officials of the union, describing the action as quite regrettable.

Said Eze (Dr) Felix Nweke, “It was only last year that the leadership of the Umuahia branch was inaugurated by the President General Ohuhu Welfare Union World-wide, Supreme Chief Obi Aguocha and we’ve not inaugurated the women’s wing, but planning to do so. Actually, I don’t know how this woman parading herself as president of OWU Urban came about”, he stressed.

Speaking further, Eze Felix Nweke, warned that the union would not take it kindly with any person caught parading herself as the president, women’s wing without due authorization, describing such candidate as illegitimate.

On the reason behind the inauguration of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Umuahia branch, Eze Felix Nweke, said that the formation of the union became necessary following the marginalisation of Ohuhu people living at Umuahia Central by their Ibeku brothers.

“So, we decided to bring our brothers and sisters together to form a strong body to fight for our right. We want to produce the next House member for Umuahia Central state constituency seat and we are serious about it. Already we have our candidate that is going to fight for the ticket in the person of Hon Acho Ojukwu. So, we can’t continue to remain aloof while our Ibeku brother will be the ones taking what belongs to all of us and representing us all the time”, he maintained.
