Publisher of NewsCritic online Newspaper, Mr Chika Nwabueze, has applauded the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE, on his second-year in office anniversary celebration as the speaker, describing him as an extra-ordinary politician and poster boy for legislative leadership.
In a press release issued and signed by the Publisher of NewsCritic online, Mr Chika Nwabueze, on behalf of the management, the media outfit praised the Speaker for showing strong leadership and demonstrating in varied ways about his commitment to the welfare of Abia citizens.
The release explained that Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji popularly called Ikuku by his numerous admirers could rightly be said to have ticked the right boxes politically, and has his eyes focused on the ball. The newspaper said that “before his election into the Abia State House of Assembly in 2015, Rt. Hon Orji sparkled in terms of youth empowerment initiatives through which he lifted many youths and homes out of poverty”.
In fact, it will not be out of order to add that he showcased leadership qualities well enough that he was implored to assume the speakership seat of the Abia House of Assembly, after his re-election in 2019, the Publisher notes.
In his inaugural address on June 10, 2019 as Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji promised to lead an assembly that would be people oriented, as he was clear in his vision to work for the progress and development of Abia State, the Publisher maintains.
The management of NewsCritic said that the Speaker has scored many firsts in his leadership that is worth commending, citing the renovation/remodelling of the assembly complex into a world class institution as one of them. The newspaper said the Speaker introduced some innovations in the activities of the assembly that are novel, among which is the live streaming on social media and other platforms of the assembly plenary.
“So, in terms of achievements Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji has remained unsurpassed such that budget proposals are now passed in record time unlike what obtained in the past. Also, good laws were made by the 7th assembly, while at the same time it provided strong oversight functions that is critical to the advancement of the state.
The Publisher further disclosed that the legislative intervention on the issue of refuse disposal, which became one of the low points of the present administration in the state led to the restructuring of the refuse disposal management system, which in turn resulted to greater efficiency in environmental cleanliness of Umuahia and Aba, the two major cities in the state.
“As a newspaper we have indeed followed the legislative trends in the state and wish to point out that we are highly satisfied with the Speaker’s records. The remodelled assembly complex, the multiple road projects he attracted to Abia Central constituency and other communities; the provision of water to several communities; the Ibeku, Umuopara, Ubakala, others mini-stadium projects under construction bear eloquent testimony to his leadership excellence”, the release states.
The Publisher said it didn’t come as a surprise that the Speaker won best performing Speaker’s award back to back in appreciation of his immense contribution to the development of Abia state and humanity in general.
