Fresh facts have emerged on why Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu sacked the Transition Committee Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Council, Mazi Emmanuel Obasi Kanu from office.
The news of the removal of the TC Chairman for Arochukwu LGA, Emmanuel Obasi Kanu was contained in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr Chris Ezem. The release also directed the sacked chairman to hand over power to the deputy transition committee chairman.
NewsCritic can authoritatively reveal that the removal of the TC Chairman was not unconnected to the violence that erupted during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, councillorship primaries in Arochukwu LGA.
Sources privy to the development informed NewsCritic online that the supremacy battle for the soul of Arochukwu PDP between Senator MAO Ohuabunwa and House of Representatives member, Hon. Uko Nkole was at the centre of the reason behind the removal of the TC Boss, Kanu.
It was gathered that despite the governor’s directive to the TC chairman to ensure hitch free primaries, the TC Chairman allowed thugs loyal to Hon Uko Nkole to disrupt the primaries on the suspicion that the electoral panel chairman, Hon Matthew Ibe is pro-MAO Ohuabunwa and can’t guarantee a level playing ground for all the parties.
NewsCritic was told that the chairman of the electoral panel, Matthew Ibe had to flee following gunshots and breach of the peace of the area. This incident did not go down well with Governor Ikpeazu when the report got to him, necessitating the immediate removal of the TC Chairman.
