Former Minister of Finance Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has pledged to continuously assist the Isingwu community in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state.
Mrs Okonjo-Iweala stated this while receiving a delegation of Isingwu Ezes, Isingwu Welfare Union and other Associations in Isingwu, Ohuhu, Umuahia, who came on a thank you visit to her at her Umuda Isingwu country home for the role she played in attracting the road leading to her community.
Ngozi Iweala who is the Chairman, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, GAVI, urged the people of Isingwu Autonomous Community to appreciate Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia state for his role in ensuring the construction of the Umuda-Amato-Ossah Road.
She stated that she is aware of the controversy over who should take credit for the road and noted that it should not arise because credit must be given to Governor Ikpeazu for providing the counterpart funding for the project that enabled the World Bank to have released their own portion of funding for the road.
She asked the people to thank the Governor and noted that more of such partnerships and collaboration is what is needed to bring development to the State.
