Abia State Government has challenged the opposition in the State to provide evidence to back their claims that ₦54 billion earmarked for school projects was missing.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinard Ekeoma, declared this while speaking on Don 103.7 FM National programme, The Agenda.
He explained that the ₦54 billion was budgeted for school projects, adding that disbursement is still ongoing as captured in the state’s third-quarter audit report.
According to him, out of the 200 schools proposed for renovation under the first phase, 63 are already undergoing rehabilitation, with funds being released gradually to match project execution.
Ekeoma also disclosed that the state government has banned all forms of loading fees for tricycle operators across the state.
According to him, the recent increase in daily tickets was carefully considered, noting that the government had granted a six-month tax holiday to motorists upon assuming office.
