Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is set to defect to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, on December 31 in Enugu.
Sources say Obi will be joined by serving senators, other lawmakers, and members of the Obidient movement across the Southeast.
Among those expected to defect are Senators Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, and Enyinnaya Abaribe, as well as PDP chieftain Ben Obi.
Obi’s spokesman, Val Obienyim, has confirmed the move.
Political observers say the defection could reshape alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as Obi is widely believed to be preparing another presidential bid.
