The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, over alleged anti-party activities.
Others removed from the party include National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature; Vice-Chairman (North-Central), Abdulrahman Mohammed; former lawmaker, Mao Ohobunwa; National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; state chairmen, Austine Nwachukwu (Imo), and Abraham Amah (Abia).
South South Zonal Secretary George Turna and Dan Orbih were also expelled.
The decision followed a motion moved by party chieftain, Chief Bode George, at the ongoing 2025 Elective National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Chief George accused the affected members of openly supporting rival political parties against the PDP. The motion was seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.
A voice vote conducted by Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, received overwhelming support from delegates, sealing the expulsion of the 11 members.
Other key developments at the convention include the approval of amendments to the party’s constitution, the confirmation of Ambassador Umar Damagum as National Chairman, and the dissolution of the outgoing National Working Committee (NWC) to pave way for fresh elections.
The convention also dissolved leadership of the party in Imo, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.
With these decisions, the convention has moved into the crucial phase of electing new members of the NWC, marking a significant step in the 2025 PDP Elective Convention, tagged Ibadan 2025.
