The immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Sir Ude Oko chukwu is billed to join the Labour Party tomorrow Saturday,n23 August, 2025.
Chief press secretary to the former Deputy Governor, Obasi Onwuka, confirmed to Don media news crew that Ude Oko Chukwu would be formally welcomed into the Labour Party fold by His Excellency Governor Alex Otti, in a grand event scheduled to be held at Etitiama Primary school, Nkporo, in Ohafia local government area.
The Chief Press Secretary went further to state that the former deputy Governor is joining the Labour Party with thousands of his supporters, who are in support of his political decision.
Obasi Onwuka also maintained that Oko Chukwu has decided to move on with his political career with or without PDP, under which platform who rose to prominence.
His defection will put to rest the speculations surrounding his recent homage to Governor Otti, which drew criticisms from PDP faithful in the state.
Ude Oko Chukwu’s defection has added another level of complexity to the Abia political situation, as gladiators manoeuver ahead of 2027 General.
