A group of motorcycle operators under the express Tower motorcycle union has called on the governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti to look into the activities of some self styled revenue agents threatening to enforce daily ticketing.
They said that a crisis situation is looming at the express tower, with this group of revenue agents promising to return on Wednesday 13 August, with full force to compel the Okada riders to pay money for daily tickets.
They said that it does not make sense that after the government restricted their activities from the cities, they are now being pursued to the villages where they are trying to eke out a living to extort money from them in the guise of daily tickets.
The spokesperson of the union Mr Chionye Onyenkamu, said the revenue agents have been disturbing their business lately, and that sometimes they will use security operatives to impound their motorcycles only for them to go and bail it with money.
They said if it is true the government is behind this, that it should do well to lift the ban on their activities, so they can raise money to buy daily tickets like the Keke operators.
