As the OBIdient Movement Worldwide celebrate Peter Obi’s 64 birthday today 19/07/2025, may we draw inspiration from the Holy Book about the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus Christ, to find out whether Peter Obi is a revelation for Nigeria or has come to take Nigerians prisoners.
“Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and show John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.”
Matthew 11:2-6.
From the above scriptures, John the Baptist was in prison, just as all of us are imprisoned by bad leadership in Nigeria since 1960 with hunger, poverty, unemployment and disunity.
While John the Baptist was languishing in prison for which he was beheaded by Herod, afterward, Jesus Christ was revealed by God as the saviour of mankind and started full ministry of recovery, restoration, rescue and reconciliation at first instance through healing the sick, raising the dead, supporting and feeding the downtrodden, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, which simply is:
Repent from evil and satanic works.
Stop stealing from the Commonwealth.
Provide for the poor, widows, orphans and helpless.
Stop using the law to harangue and send innocent people to jail.
Stop manipulating election results by official infractions to change the people’s mandate.
The state is created for the betterment of the people and not for the suffering of the people.
It is this message of repentance that we have seen Peter Obi touring round the thirty six states and Abuja preaching and even giving his own little offerings to the people without asking for favours from them.
John the Baptist sent two messengers to Jesus Christ and those two messengers have arrived Nigeria and have met Peter Obi and warned him that they don’t want to see Peter Obi in their respective States again.
Those two messengers of John the Baptist in Nigeria are Governor Rev.fr.Dr Hycinth Alia of Benue state and Governor Monday Okpemulor of Edo state where Peter Obi visited to bless the poor and the needy as part of his missionary work.
Peter Obi has not and will not reply the two messengers of John the Baptist but we have found a reply for them in scriptures as follows:
“Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good Shepherd: the good Shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of them.”
John 10:7-14.
The thieves and robbers in above scriptures refers to the two big political parties that have ravaged Nigeria since this fourth Republic started in 1999-2025 with the practitioners defecting from one party to the other depending on which of them is in control of power at the Federal level.
The hireling and the wolf speaks to the President and chairman of INEC Nigeria that determines how leaders emerge by subverting the people’s mandate.
In a nutshell, Nigeria’s problems, be it political, economic, insecurity, social malaise or diversities dissensions are captured in scriptures.
As we congratulate Peter Obi on his 64th birthday, we are clear in our minds that he represents the symbol of: the door opener and good shepherd spoken of in above scriptures and we urge him as Jesus Christ did to forgive his traducers and pray for them until the crown of Nigeria rests upon his head to rescue and deliver the common man in Nigeria from the stranglehold of evil forces that reign over this blessed land called Nigeria.
It is not an easy road to arrive at Nigeria’s Presidential seat but because power belongs to God, and the battle is the LORD’s, victory is achievable and POssible with PO.
Happy 64th birthday to Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi and the OBIdient Movement worldwide.
Deo Gratias!!!
