The President Bola Tinubu Mandate Support Group in Abia State met in Umuahia on Thursday 19th June, 2025 to strategize and drum support for the re-election of Mr President in 2027, especially for the All Progressives Congress, APC, to win the South East region in the coming presidential poll.
Tinubu’s Mandate Support Group is one of the pro groups under the Renewed Hope Agenda Partners, which was the brain child of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu that is focused on promoting and supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 General Election, especially in the South East region.
Speaking at the strategic meeting of the Tinubu’s Mandate Support Group held at the Ojike Street Umuahia Secretariat of the Renewed Hope Agenda Partners, the State coordinator Chief Armstrong Chimezie Okoronkwo said that the group is united in its resolve that President Tinubu wins votes in the South East region for the first time.
Chief Okoronkwo regretted that it’s only in the South East region that you won’t see political or ideological cohesion and understanding to the extent that three different political parties control different states in the region.
He noted that while it’s true that the APC can win the election without the South East, that Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu is out to rewrite the story and change the political trajectory of the people of South East, and to rally them behind President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The Tinubu’s Mandate Support Group coordinator, disclosed that they are the first pro group to partner with them to further the political interests of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, adding that the group is not interested on political party affiliations of members as long as the interest is to reelect Tinubu for a second term in office.
Said Chief Okoronkwo “we are behind Ben Kalu…to support him to ensure that his project becomes a reality. We’re not talking about the governorship. It’s the president and to ensure that he succeeds.
“However, if the President asks Ben Kalu to run for governorship, we will not fail him. If we show the Deputy Speaker that we are committed and faithful, APC is going to explode in Abia State in particular and South East in general”.
The meeting which was well attended attracted the presence of all the LGA coordinators of the 17 LGAs of Abia State, their women leaders and youth leaders.
Speaking at the event, the women and youth leaders promised strong support and backing for Ben Kalu, and to ensure Tinubu wins Abia in the next election.
