As the sensitization and thank you visit embarked upon by the Abia State Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, Chief Amaobi Ohaeri enters its fourth day, members of the transport Union in the State have been called upon to work tirelessly towards the enthronement of Governor Alex Otti in 2027, this is just as the chairman sued for peace and an end to all forms of fighting amongst unions.
During his visit to Osisioma Park and Ngwa Road Units, the State Chairman of NARTO restated that he embarked on the visit to thank members for electing him for a second term in office, and to seek for peace and unity among the various transport Unions in the State, which are often involved in deadly fighting over control of parks and bus stops.
He warned members to shun every form of violence and destructive behavior that cast the transport Union in bad light and to maintain peace, and unity needed to grow any association.
Chief Amaobi Ohaeri informed that he is not interested in seeking a third term in office as obtained elsewhere, but to ensure that NARTO remains a strong union that is supportive of the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
He regretted the incident that played out during his visit to Ariaria Junction unit, and cautioned members against being used as ready tools to cause chaos and mayhem in the system.
He appealed to members to always respect any directive from the state government concerning the transport sector, and to reciprocate the good gestures of Gov Otti by reelecting him for a second term in office.
Chief Ohaeri said all NARTO members must be fully mobilized towards the commissioning of the Port Harcourt road project on 23rd May, 2025, adding that Gov Otti has achieved so much in the areas of road infrastructure.
Earlier at Osisioma Park, the chairman of the Central body and former Leader Osisioma legislative council Hon Prince Chukwuemeka Izima, in his welcome remarks maintained that the coming of Gov Otti is prayer answered, adding that the people have no choice other than to join the Otti’s moving train.
Hon Izima said that sensitization and mobilization to ensure that Gov Otti wins their votes for a second term in 2027 is underway. He also promised maximum support for the State Chairman of NARTO, whom he said “we’ll give all the support to represent us at the zonal level when his tenure expires”.
The NARTO leadership sensitization tour started with Units at Aba and will last for a week or more, according to the leadership. Usually the visit provides the opportunity for the units to officially host and celebrate the leadership as well as interact with them.
There are provision for musical entertainment and refreshments for the visitors.
