The Village Head of Umuoriehi in Isingwu Autonomous Community of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Elder Uzo Madubuike has once again brought joy to the three compounds in the village as he distributes rice and other items to both the men and women to mark the Easter celebration.
NewsCritic online reports that this is not the first time Elder Uzo Madubuike and his siblings have distributed palliatives to Umuoriehi people, in fact showing love and bringing succor to the indigent and less privileged members of the village have become their trademark.
He said that he wants to ensure that the needy in the community do not go to bed hungry due to lack of food, and also make sure that families have something to eat during the Easter celebration. He promised that the leadership of Umuoriehi has a lot of good things in stock for the people, while urging them to be hopeful and trust in his leadership.
Elder Madubuike assured that despite the initial leadership crisis that threatened the village, that it never affected the smooth running of the affairs as every activity went on fine. ‘’The crisis never affected the running of the affairs of the community as everything is moving on normal…they won’t even come because they are not part and parcel of the system. This month we have done several community programmes, including burials and there was no problem’’, he emphasized.
The Umuoriehi Village Head disclosed that he has set up a reconciliation committee to help bring about enduring peace in the community. He asked those with grievances to go there, adding that it is an independent body. ‘’It’s not something I will want to influence and if there is anyone that needs pardon the village head can do that, it is within my limits and no offence is beyond pardon’’, he remarks.
He said that beside the periodic distribution of palliatives, the water borehole project and solar lights attracted by his family that the Umuoriehi civic hall project is something he intends to achieve, maintaining that he has started talking with the people in diaspora to solicit for their support.
‘’The water borehole project is still functional and residents are enjoying it, and for the past 10 years we have been providing water for free. The solar lights are there, but the civic hall project is dear to me and I want to achieve that project during my tenure. I’ve been making contacts and the diaspora are willing to support it. So, I plead we should do it because it is our pride. This hall has been like that for donkey years and this is the best time to build it’’, Elder Uzo Madubuike reasoned.
