Abia Govt Tasks ICAN On Innovative Solutions To Nigeria’s Economic Challenges

Our Doors Are Always Open To Receive ICAN, Governor Otti Assures

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti says his Government is always ready to open its doors for members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Governor Otti stated this Wednesday, in Umuahia during a banquet he organised for members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria who were in the State for their Eastern Zonal Conference. 

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, thanked the Abia born President of the institute, Chief Davidson Alaribe and his colleagues for choosing Abia State for their zonal conference. 

Governor Otti used the opportunity to urge members of the Institute of Chartered accountants of Nigeria to leverage on their expertise to develop innovative solution to address the economic challenges facing Nigeria.

He advised them as professionals to know that they have a critical role to play in shaping the economic destiny of the nation and urged them to live up to expectations.

Speaking, the President of ICAN, Chief Davidson Alaribe commended Governor Otti for putting the right and professional individuals in the right places in his Government, including their accountant colleagues. 

He stressed the need for professionals to be appointed to man various Government offices and positions.

Chief Alaribe, who described Governor Otti as a thoroughbred professional thanked him for his sustained support to ICAN. He also used the opportunity to appreciate Governor Otti for appointing their members into many positions of trust in his Government. He thanked the Governor for recognising them and hosting them to a dinner. 

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, FCA, Commissioners for Finance, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu, and his Environment counterpart, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, the Accountant-General of the State, Mrs. Njum Uma – Onyemenam, FCA,

among other government officials were present at the dinner.
