Nancy Ibe Memorial Foundation Donates Medical Equipment, Empowers Small Business Owners In Isingwu

It’s almost 13 years since the unfortunate incident and her death in the ill-fated Dana Airline crash that claimed the lives of all 153 people on board to Lagos, the spirit of the late Mrs Echendu Nancy Ibe (Okwulehie) resurrected at Umuda Okpuala Okpu-Isingwu on Saturday 9^th March, 2025, when the Nancy Ibe Foundation, founded in her memory by the matriarch of the Sam Okwulehie’s family, Nneoma Mrs Victoria Okwulehie donated medical equipment to the community health centre, and also empowered small business owners in Isingwu to help them grow their businesses.

During her lifetime, Echendu Nancy Ibe had already made her mark significantly with her charity and medical outreach programmes by visiting hospitals to offset the hospital bills of patients who couldn’t afford it, and also reaching out to the pregnant women to help out in their nutritional needs and that of their new-born babies. This is the path of life she chose for herself, helping the vulnerable, the less privilege and those that had medical needs until her sad death with other members of the family, including her 11-year-old daughter Jennifer Ibe.

Today her family, the Chief Sam Okwulehie family has not only built a monument in her memory, but has equally gone a notch further to advance her ideals by establishing the Nancy Ibe Memorial Foundation, as a vehicle through which her humanitarian, empowerment and medical outreach programmes will be promoted and enhanced.

The first of such programmes was witnessed at Umuda Okpuala, Okpu-Isingwu autonomous community last Saturday, when Nneoma Mrs Victoria Okwulehie donated large quantities of medical kits to the Okpu-Isingwu Health Centre, and also gave out cash worth over N1.2m as empowerment to ten traders in Isingwu to help them resuscitate their ailing businesses during this period of economic difficulties, in the name of Nancy Ibe Memorial Foundation.

In her remarks during the handover of the medical kits and palliatives to the personnel of Okpu-Isingwu health centre, Nneoma Victoria Okwulehie said she is continuing with the charity works of her late daughter, Echendu Nancy Ibe through the foundation, which was set up in her memory. It is her desire that the foundation will continue from where the deceased stopped to advance her core values.

She noted that Echendu Nancy Ibe who died on June 3^rd 2012 is not the type of person who should be forgotten that way. “The father said we should build a house in her memory and do things she is known for in her lifetime. She doesn’t like seeing people suffer, while she is in a position to help. So, it’s in her remembrance that we are here today to do the things she is known for”, Mrs Okwulehie posits.

The founder of the Nancy Ibe Memorial Foundation further said that God touched her to select the names of those to benefit from the business empowerment, adding that others should be patient if their names were not in the first list.

She called on friends and those who are touched by what the foundation is doing and wish to partner with it in providing hospital equipment and other aid, to do so in honour of the late Nancy Ibe. Mrs Okwulehie pointed out that the materials “we are donating to the health centre is to help in running the place better.

The Okpu-Isingwu health centre personnel while receiving the medical kits on behalf of the centre thanked the founder of the Nancy Ibe Memorial Foundation for her show of magnanimity and charity, while assuring that they would do all possible best to put the equipment to good use.

Mr Uche Ufomadu and madam Nwaelewe Ehumadu, on behalf of the 10 beneficiaries of the business empowerment appreciated the founder of the Nancy Ibe Memorial Foundation for the monetary gifts and prayed that God will keep her and continue to use her to bless the society. The traditional prime minister of Okpu-Isingwu Chief Moses Nwakamma represented the Eze-In-Council.

The following are the beneficiaries of the business empowerment of N100,000 each and N200,000 for Mr Uche Ufomadu (chief driver) to revive their businesses.
