The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Abia State chapter has elected a new State Executive Committee that will pilot the affairs of the party in the state. The new Exco emerged from the State delegate Congress held on the 16th of January, 2024 at the Upper Graceland Hotels Umuahia.
According the results of the State Congress the former acting State Chairman of the party Hon Prince Kelechi Apugo was elected as the new Chairman of the NNPP in Abia State. His election is widely accepted by the members and delegates who described him as the right candidate for the job.
NewsCritic online reports that the party had earlier conducted its ward and local government congresses to recruit the leadership at the levels before going for the State Congress, during which the delegates from the ward and LGA levels voted to elect a new executive committee member.
Hon Kelechi Apugo is the offspring of the legendary Prince BB Apugo of Ibeku ancient kingdom. His family is known for their strong political background, and Hon Kelechi Apugo is a prominent grassroots politician, who has over the years mastered the art of inclusive politics. With his emergence the NNPP is now the party to watch in Abia State come 2027.
