The immediate past Deputy Leader of Umuahia North Legislative Council, Hon Efughi Ogbonna has commended Governor Alex Otti for putting in place democratic governance at the local government areas of Abia State, just as he said that the new executive Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Hon Smart Iheoma will follow on the footsteps of Gov Otti to replicate his achievements in the local government Area.
Hon Efughi Ogbonna stated this in an interview with journalists in Umuahia following the swearing in of the newly elected local government officials by His Excellency Gov Alex Otti earlier in the week.
He said he must give it to Gov Otti for doing what is right democratically, and ensuring that the electorates elected candidates of their choices in the just concluded Abia local government election held on Saturday 2nd November, 2024 in all the 17 LGAs of the State.
The former Deputy Leader of the Umuahia North Legislative Council stressed that he witnessed real campaigns during this period, as he was part of the campaign trail of Hon Iheoma, who according to him, transversed all the 12 wards of the LGA to campaign, which at the end produced results as the electorates voted for him to be declared winner.
Speaking further, Hon Ogbonna pointed out that Chief Iheoma popularly known as Akuoyi emergence as the executive Chairman of Umuahia North signposts a new dawn, as he would bring in efficiency, capacity and transparency in the affairs of the LGA. He called on the good people of Ohuhu, Ibeku and the residents to support the new administration to achieve its set out goals of providing dividends of democracy to the rural populace.
He said that Iheoma has been a strong follower of Otti, and shared in his vision and discipline. These attributes he opined would help him to deliver on his mandate.
