Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon Kelechi Anderson Akaliro, has said that he has not defected from his party APC to the ruling Labour Party in Abia State.
His clarification is coming against the backdrop of two Young Progressive Party (YPP) legislators representing Osisioma-Ngwa South and North State constituency announced their defection from the YPP to the Labour Party in the state during plenary on Tuesday 14th May, 2024.
The two former YPP lawmakers later visited Governor Alex Otti and were received by the Governor together with the Majority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Okoro, who promised them a level playing ground.
Hon Akaliro stressed that the duo of Hon Fine Onyekachi Ahuama and Nwogu Iheanacho who defected to LP have their reasons for doing so, adding that for him he remains a member of the APC and has no plans to decamp.
NewsCritic online reports that Hon Anderson Akaliro is the only elected member of APC at the 8th Abia State House of Assembly.
