Don’t Trouble Yourselves Over The Outcome Of The 2023 General Election, Chinedum Orji Tells Supporters

Former speaker of Abia State house of assembly Rt Hon Chinedum Orji has told his teeming supporters not to bother themselves over the outcome of the 2023 General Election, saying that he would have added great value but for the gang up and envy that characterized the election.

Engr. Chinedum Orji said he has decided to stay away from making public statements or discussing the activities of the previous administration in Abia in order not to create unnecessary distraction, and or confusion in the system.

Speaking when members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN, Abia State chapter paid him a visit on Sunday, the former Speaker explained that he sees public office as call to service, hence he did his best to better the lots of his constituents in particular and Abians in general.

The Rt Hon. Chinedum Orji thanked members of OMPAN for their support during his speakership, adding that he has decided not to be a distraction to any political office holder in the state, but wants to see them fulfil all their campaign promises.

He explained that he has refrained from making public statements that will heat up the polity, and reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

He said that he is ever willing and available at any time he is called upon in relation to his stewardship as former speaker. Engr Orji also said that while he has decided to maintain silence now, that nobody should pity him for anything, adding that when it is the time for politics, he is going to play it not withstanding what anyone things about him.

“I’m not interested in distracting anyone…I won’t be part of anything that will bring confusion within the state, if at any time they want me to come and give account of my stewardship I’m available. When the time of politics reaches, Chinedum Orji will play it whether you like it or not”.

He drummed support for the Deputy Speaker house of representatives Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu and the minister Hon Nkiru Onyejiocha to succeed.

He assured of his continual support to OMPAN in whatever area he can be of any help to the association now and in future, advising them to be good in their job not to depend on any politician.

Earlier, the Chairman of OMPAN and leader of the delegation, Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro, noted that when Rt Hon Chinedum Orji was the Speaker, he worked closely with OMPAN and” we want to appreciate him for opening his doors for us.

He also said OMPAN decided to pay him courtesy visit to interface with him on the areas of common interest.
