The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ben Kalu is among the speakers at the Niger Delta Youth Peace Builders and the Cradle Step Foundation Peace Summit 2024 on impact of sabotage, and vandalization of pipelines in our environment. The one-day summit will hold at Toxydon Hotels and Suites Umagu Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State on Wednesday 27 March.
According to a press release signed by the National President, Niger Delta Youth Peace Builders, Comrade Chibuike Emmanuel aka ECOMOG, the one-day sensitization Workshop is designed to sensitize the Niger Delta youths on the dangers and destructive impact of pipeline sabotage on our environment and future.
The idea he noted is to build a better future for the Niger Delta, a future where there would be peace, economic opportunities and better environment, regretting that the path to this future is marred by significant obstacles derived from pipeline sabotage and vandalism.
Comrade Chibuike Emmanuel said the workshop would provide the platform for the Niger Delta Youths to learn, share and empower themselves, as well as explore peaceful alternatives and “ways to channel our energy and aspirations into constructive pursuits…and shaping a sustainable future for our region”.
He said that the Deputy Senate President Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu will deliver the keynote address as the youths would listen to him speak about the Peace in Southeast Project, PISE-P.
The workshop will equip the youths with the knowledge and requisite skills needed to build a more peaceful and prosperous Niger Delta region, while urging the youths to be ambassadors for peace in our communities.
Some of the dignitaries expected to be at the workshop include Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs; Dr Samuel Ogbuku Managing Director NDDC, Hon Eruba Dimgba the NDDC Commissioner representing Abia State and Hon Onyedi Okwulehie the All Progressives Congress, APC, flag=bearer for Umuahia North state constituency in the last election. The group which is a non-governmental organisation is out to promote peace and development in the Niger Delta region.
