Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji has announced the suspension of restriction of movement during Saturday’s environmental sanitation exercise. The exercise will hold on 24th, February, 2024 in line with the directives of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State.
He said the decision to lift the ban on restriction of movement is a reflection of the commitment to fostering a more flexible, and inclusive approach to community sanitation. Residents of Umuahia North are encouraged to actively participate in cleaning their immediate surroundings while maintaining their usual daily routines”, he intoned.
The Mayor emphasizes the crucial role that cleanliness, and hygiene play in safeguarding public health and well-being. He particularly urged residents to prioritize the desilting of drainages in their localities to pre-empt potential flooding as the rainy season nears.
Residents are urged to be law-abiding and responsible citizens by actively participating in this sanitation exercise. By working together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for everyone in Umuahia North”.
