Ohuhu Umuahia born businessman and philanthropist, Chief Uchenna Patrick Ogbonna, has described Hon (Sir) Obi Aguocha Member representing Umuahia/Ikwuano federal constituency at the National Assembly as a great warrior, who braved the odds against him to defeat the highly rated Engr Chinedum Orji at the polls.
The Dike Ohuhu and Agu Oriendu title holder, said in a new year interview with newsmen, that although he didn’t support Sir Obi Aguocha during the electioneering with reasons, he added that as God will have it, he won both at the ballot, the tribunal and appeal courts respectively. He hailed Rep Aguocha for achieving this rare feat which had eluded Ohuhu for decades.
Said the Chairman/CEO of Pat-Urchman Limited, “first I want to use this opportunity to congratulate my most respected elder brother, Sir Obi aguocha, on his victory at the polls and courts. It’s true that I didn’t support him during the elections, and I have my reasons. I’m not a chameleon. Anybody that wants to know why I didn’t support him should see me privately.
“He was able to defeat his strong opponent Engr Chinedum Orji both at the tribunal and appeal court, so he came out victorious and is now the house of Reps member. I will say he is a great warrior. Something Ohuhu never believed was possible, Obi Aguocha made it possible through God. So, I congratulate him for breaking the jinx and grabbing that seat.
“I also admire his charisma, as a Reps member he is entitled to Police and DSS escort, but chose to move around without security, always humble, jovial and lively. I wish other politicians can emulate him.
“But I have this to say to him, he was elected to represent us, all of us are brothers to Mazi Nnamdi Kalu by virtue of our Umuahia origin, and we want him (MNK) released from prison. Obi Aguocha is not a lawyer, Nnamdi Kalu has his lawyers, so I will want him to be focused on his job to represent us well and bring the dividends of democracy for us.
“Again, while there is nothing wrong enjoying a good relationship with the governor, he should not be seen following the governor around and leaving his official duties to suffer. We want him to come out very successful like the way he performed as President General Ohuhu Welfare Union worldwide. We want him to replicate that feat again.
“Then about other elected politicians from Ohuhu, for me I feel we don’t have assembly member. Let him try and be active. He got it on a platter of gold, so he should sit up. Finally, there were people that were giving other positions, let them not carry themselves too high because even touts have occupied that position in the past.
