Onitsha South Stakeholders Rue Transfer Of Fegge DPO, CSP Rabiu Garba

Stakeholders of Onitsha South LGA of Anambra State have decried the sudden transfer of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Fegge Police Station, CSP Rabiu Garba.

In the statement issued by the stakeholders, they said that they would miss Rabiu Garba, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who has been the DPO of Fegge Police Station for the past 9 years.

The statement which was signed by High Chief Dede Uzor A Uzor and Mazi Chika Udemadu Chika, the stakeholders said since the arrival of Garba in February 2014, precisely nine years ago, he has been able to unify the residents of Onitsha South.

They said the DPO brought and maintained peace as well as fought crime to a standstill in the area.

According to the stakeholders, “CSP Garba recovered dangerous weapons including Ak-47 riffles among other dangerous weapons of death he recovered from criminals.

The stakeholders held that the DPO attracted huge developmental projects to the Division, which include a borehole project with overhead tank water reservoir donated by Transglobe Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Again, the statement noted that he equally constructed offices for the officers in different departments and engineered a turned-around of Fegge Police Station. 

Not only that, they pointed out that he constructed perimeter fence, mosque, church and recreational facilities for young people, especially Lawn Tennis department “, said the stakeholders.

Part of Garba’s major achievements at Fegge were the concrete flooring of the entire Fegge Police Station premises, the building of a six-room block to house newly transferred Police Officers, who always found it difficult to get accommodation, provision of a big Mikano power generating set, including winning Interface Hero award for three consecutive years which earned him a different Hilux Vans which he in turn donated to the Division.

The Stakeholders said Garba has won over 1050 different awards and kept an open-door policy which made him accessible to many while he was in Fegge.

Garba, they said was known for using his salary to sponsor less privileged members of the society, describing him as a philanthropist per excellence. “We’ll greatly miss him. 

The stakeholders called on the new DPO CSP Ifeanyi Ibure, the youngest CSP to emulate the former DPO Garba and work assiduously for the security of the lives of the people of Onitsha South, including implementing the bail is free policy introduced by Garba. 

“We advise the new DPO to shun the system of ceasing peoples’ phones at the Police gate and run the same open-door policy introduced by Garba. We assure him of our adequate support” said the stakeholders.

The stakeholders thanked the CP Aderemi Adeoye for choosing another thorough bred professional like Ibure to handle the Fegge station, while Garba took over from Ibure at CPS Onitsha.
